Okay, so let's step outside the question of sustainability and environmental impact and think about the project in itself - if you were going to do something as crazy sounding as Gran Scala - what would you want to see there?

Just in case someone out there is listening, I'm going to make my own list of things that I think could rock:

Cirque du Soleil - Vegas has 2 permanent shows. If Gran Scala wants to be a big draw, it's going to need at least one.

Alternative power - it's a dessert right? So let's assume there is some sunlight. And probably wind - those windmills that Don Quixote was fighting seem to suggest the possibility. So let's build the world biggest alternative power center and open it to the businesses of the world to learn from it.

Live music. I love live music

Ski trips. What? Yes, there is skiing not so far off. Maybe an hour and a half. Let's get a fast train going straight to the slopes.

Trees. Sounds crazy but they are actually a viable alternative to concrete.

Low rise housing. In Spain the tendency is always to build up, and ugly. How about we break away from that and offer an alternative?

Great food. That generally abounds in Spain but its presence is essential.

Cool clubs. Now that I think about this, I see this could actually be the next big stag and hen destination for the British, who are not only nearby, but are dedicated travelers for these occasions. Moreover they are unwelcome in many other places, so maybe Gran Scala is made for them?

No Irish pubs. Just a thought, but wouldn't it be nice if somewhere didn't have them.

OKAY - I HAVE IT. How about NO TRAFFIC? Now that would be amazing. I would actually go there for that reason alone.

Any more ideas anyone cares to post up here? Feel free to dream away.
